Conference Information
Today's plant communication infrastructure is typically comprised of multiple networks supporting various communications required to support operations. For example, plant communications might include desk/workstation telephony, radio systems, in-house paging, cell phones as well as PC-based email. Human-Machine-Interface (HMI) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) keep watch on the pulse of the plant, but both require the stations be manned to react to problems. Managing and maintaining all these silo networks is costly -- both financially and operationally. Converging these network backbones and leveraging the Wireless LAN as the "pipe" enables comprehensive communications between workers throughout the facility, delivering results that are nothing less than astounding.

Perry Snelgrove
Founder
PlantWatch Inc.
In 1989, after a 13 year career with Motorola's Communications Group, Perry Snelgrove pioneered the area of Automated Alarm and Event reporting when he started PlantWatch Inc. The early systems relied heavily on in house paging systems. In the 7 years that followed he saw his software installed in over 300 plants and the corporate standard at more than 6 fortune 50 corporations. In 2001, with the advent of TPS and Lean initiatives, PlantWatch was asked to develop software, with similar system architecture to the paging system, which could drive all types of Andon boards. PlantWatch's Marquee Manager was developed and has since enjoyed the same installation base success as the earlier paging software. In 2006 Snelgrove sold his interest in the company, which was rebranded to Seqent by the new owners. He continues to be intimately involved with growth of the company.
