Wakefield, R.I.-based Boothroyd Dewhurst Inc. will host the 2000 International Forum on Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA). The event will be held June 12 to 14 at the Hyatt Regency Newport in Newport, R.I. Conference participants will present papers describing product-design programs and the resulting cost reduction and efficiency gains. The companies highlighted in the papers include General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co., Hitachi Ltd., Eastman Kodak Co., and Nortel Networks. Presentations by product-design experts will examine detailed DFMA applications and focus on issues such as training and implementation, engineering design quality, product development metrics, and team recognition, modularization, process manufacturing, and collaboration with suppliers.
