Compiled ByJonathan Katz Companies that go beyond the required EPA standards for environmental compliance may be eligible for the EPA's National Environmental Performance Track program rewards, according to the EPA. The program recognizes businesses that have a strong compliance record and have risen above the status-quo by setting up an Environmental Management System, voluntarily reducing pollution, and making commitments to further environmental improvement. Companies qualifying for the program will benefit by being nationally recognized as an environmental leader by the EPA, regulatory and administrative flexibility, a more cooperative relationship with the EPA, a reduction in both record keeping and reporting requirements, and enjoy flexibility in meeting certain regulatory requirements. The reward program is available to all U.S. companies. Application deadlines for charter applicants are Sept. 1 for November notification and Sept. 30 for December notification. More information is available at www.epa.gov/performancetrack or e-mail [email protected].
