There are plenty of time wasters at work. But a survey by Pace Productivity Inc. found that paperwork and administrative requests were at the top of the list of time wasters that employees said were out-of-their control. Sadly, of the 690 employees and entrepreneurs surveyed, 115 cited customer service requests, customer service problems, and customer complaints as the second biggest time waster. Others in the top 10 (in declining order): phone calls and phone interruptions, computer equipment problems, lack of internal support or inefficiency of other departments, unexpected interruptions, commuting problems, meetings, staffing issues, and requests from peers or other departments.
