ByJohn S. McClenahen Executives recently surveyed by ExecuNet, a management and recruiting resource center, aren't encouraging about the executive job market. More than half -- 56% -- of the 232 executives surveyed characterize conditions in the executive job market during the past 30 days as "flat." Some 36% describe the market as improving, while 8% contend it's getting worse. More than three-quarters of the executives -- 78% -- are concerned they'll have to accept a job at a lower salary than their most recent job. "Having endured one of the most competitive markets in recent years, it's not surprising that executives are cautious about the employment market's recovery," says Mark Anderson, president of ExecuNet. However, he says that "with signs of a stronger employment market already emerging, their outlook should improve in the months ahead as more job opportunities arise."
