The Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI) will hold its annual conference on Mar. 27-28 at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore. The theme of the event will be, "Environment and Business, Sustaining Growth for the 21st Century." Featured speakers will include: C.T. Wright, executive director of the International Foundation for Education and Self Help; and Amory Lovins, coauthor of Natural Capitalism: Creating the Next Industrial Revolution. "This conference presents an excellent opportunity to listen and learn from environmental leaders around the world, participate in workshops that focus on GEMI's leading-edge activities, and discuss issues relating to future trends for environment, business, and sustainable growth," says Jim Thomas, conference chairman and executive director, environment, health, and safety, Novartis Corp. GEMI members include such companies as Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc., Eastman Kodak Co., 3M Co., and Southern Co.
