ByJohn S. McClenahen Not quite two months after the then-142 members of the World Trade Organization approved its membership on Nov. 10, 2001, Taiwan is officially the group's 144th member. Immediately preceding Taiwan in WTO membership was the People's Republic of China. Both China and Taiwan will take part in a new round of world trade negotiations slated for completion by Jan. 1, 2005. Currently, 28 countries are seeking membership in the WTO.
