Workers Say 'Bah, Humbug!' To Many Corporate Gifts

British bosses have no idea what to buy their employees for Christmas, and most of the gifts they buy are destined for the trash, a recent study reports. Company branded sweatshirts, ties, and pens topped the list of worst presents, followed by novelty Christmas goods such as Santa Claus ties. Almost half of 500 staff members questioned by recruitment firm Office Angels said they threw away or never used corporate gifts. Nine times out of 10 workers were left disappointed by festive handouts from their employers, saying they would prefer gift vouchers. "Many employers have good intentions but no idea what to buy," notes Paul Jacobs, director of corporate communications at Office Angels. "It is important they get it right to really show their staff how much they are valued. Gift vouchers may not be personalized, but it's the present that employees would appreciate most."
