Axsys Technologies Inc., a designer and manufacturer of high-performance surveillance and imaging systems for defense and related commercial industries, opened a new manufacturing facility in Nashua, N.H.

"We have experienced significant growth in our business over the past several years, which has driven the need to expand our operations," said Scott Conner, President and COO of Axsys Technologies. "We are thankful for this growth and success and are fortunate to be located in an area with a rich and talented pool of employees to help us meet our growing needs."

The new 67,000 square foot facility nearly doubles Axsys Technologies’ current manufacturing space providing the additional capacity the company needs to meet its expected future growth. Since the beginning of 2007, Axsys has added more than 100 employees to its Nashua-based operations bringing its total headcount to 330. The Rocky Hill, Conn.-based company operates throughout the country, employing nearly 1,000 people nationally.

As part of the opening celebrations, the company’s President, Scott Conner, donated an infrared camera to the Central New Hampshire Special Operations Unit (SOU). The infrared camera will be useful to the multi-community unit in search and rescue operations.
