GM Plans to Cut 10,000 Jobs at Opel

Company wants to cut costs by 30%

After announcing earlier in the day that  it would retain control Opel, GM's John Smith said the company plans to cut around 10,000 jobs at the European division.

GM wants to cut costs by 30% at Opel, a European unit that employs more than 50,000 people, Smith said during a telephone news conference.
