Nestle USA expects to create more than 500 jobs by 2011 with the addition of a new plant in Indiana that began production on March 3.
The plant, located in Anderson, Ind., is Nestle's largest ready-to-drink aseptic products factory in the world, the company said. The plant produces Nesquik Ready-to-Drink and Coffee-mate Liquid products.
Between August 2006 and June 2008, Nestle invested $359 million to construct an 880,000 square-foot factory, bringing over 400 jobs to Anderson. It's Nestle's largest single capital investment to date.
The company plans to invest $170 million to expand the facility by more than 1 million square feet by 2011, which will result in additional jobs.
The facility has applied for federal LEED certification, meaning it meets a suite of standards for environmentally sustainable construction as determined by the U.S. Green Building Council.
