On May 2 AU Optronics said  it would seek an injunction barring South Korean rival LG Display from exporting some products to the United States.  The move comes after AU Optronics, a leading Taiwanese LCD manufacturer, won its latest legal battle with LG Display in the U.S over the Korean firm's patent infringement.

"AU Optronics hopes that LGD's customers will immediately cease purchasing any unauthorized infringing products from LGD for sale or use in the U.S. without the need for further court action," the comapny said.

In 2006, LG Display filed a patent infringement action against the Taiwanese firm, which filed a counter-claim.

The Delaware district court ruled in February that LG Display infringed on four of AU Optronics' patents. OnApril 30 it ruled that the Taiwanese firm did not infringe on any of the four patents claimed by LG Display, AU Optronics said.

The patented technologies help improve response time and improve reliability of LCDs.

The infringing products cover a wide variety of applications, including LCD panels for TVs, monitors, notebooks, public information displays and mobile phones.
