Top Five Natural Gas-Producing States

From the Energy Information Administration's"Today in Energy" blog:

The top five natural gas-producing states increased their combined marketed natural gas production by approximately 7.5% in 2011.

But their overall share of total U.S. natural gas production fell slightly to 65% primarily due to increased production in Pennsylvania's Marcellus Shale region.

So which states rank in the top five? They are:

Texas
Louisiana
Wyoming
Oklahoma
Colorado
