Peugeot to Idle Factories to Cut Stocks

Nov. 30, 2011
Two of company's main French production facilities will be idled for a total of 13 days in December.

PSA Peugeot Citroen said on Nov. 30 that it will partially idle two of its main French production facilities for a total of 13 days in December to cut stocks.

Some 4,000 employees at the Sochaux factory will be affected for five days and 1,500 at the Mulhouse plant, company representatives said.

The increase in the planned down time at the plants will help keep down stocks of the Peugeot 206+, 308, 3008 and 5008 models as well as the Citroen DS5 given the lethargic state of the French car market.
