"Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me," F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote in 1925.
In the case of the list of the world's top 10 richest individuals under 40, compiled by Wealth-X, that difference is likely that they are younger than you and me.
And let's not forget the money. If the "poorest" of them spent $1,000 a minute, every hour of the day, every day of the year, it would take them 8 years to exhaust their funds.
Many on the list earned their incredible wealth with pioneering technology efforts that helped shape our connected society. If not manufacturers themselves, they certainly have created products that have a huge influence on the manufacturing community.
Of the 10 on the list, seven are self-made billionaires. Seven are U.S. citizens. Two are women. Three inherited their wealth. Many of them are very active in charitable efforts. Few of them would be identified correctly in a "man on the street" quiz.
Who do you think made the list? The answers are ahead.
