LORAM, leading supplier of track maintenance machinery and services, needed to better track performance of mobile rail-maintenance machines. Leveraging the Microsoft® Surface™ tablets and the FactoryTalk® suite from Rockwell Automation, LORAM now remotely collects critical performance data from each rail grinder for real-time troubleshooting, maintenance and electronic reporting. Each grinder is equipped with over 100,000 data inputs, and the company usually collects 2,100 data tags per report. Insight into critical production data has reduced overall downtime costs significantly.
