Green IT at a Premium

More than half of us will pay up to 10% more for green products and services.
Oct. 15, 2007

Just as in the consumer sphere, IT purchasing is increasingly being driven by "green" issues (both cost and conservation). Respondents to a recent IT survey indicate:

52% are willing to pay 5% to 10% more for green products or services.

51% are willing to trade 5% to 10% of server performance for lower carbon emissions.

75% would choose a green vendor over a non-green vendor if the prices were the same.

55% have taken first steps with internal programs (i.e., recycling).

30% think green vendors will be a central part of their business strategy in five years.
