The Pearl River, NY facility is the second largest research site in
Wyeth. It has 40 buildings, 12 miles of roadway and five stream-fed ponds.
Company units on site include: Biotech Manufacturing, Consumer Product
Manufacturing, Discovery Research, Preclinical Development (Chemical and
Pharmaceutical Development and Drug Metabolism), Vaccines Research and Global
Analytical Development. The site celebrated its 100th anniversary in Fall 2007.
Attendees will tour the facility's Biotech Manufacturing, Chemical and
Pharmaceutical Research, and Vaccines Research units and observe and learn
about the following:
Operational Excellence: The focus of Wyeth's Operational Excellence
initiative is to conduct business in a manner that improves quality and
produces higher yields, faster throughput and less waste. Wyeth uses several
techniques to achieve this result.
Quality by Design: Process Analytic Technology offers new ways to
improve quality and reduce costs. Working with the FDA, Wyeth is taking the
lead in making this vision a reality.
End-to-End Manufacturing: A new focus on cycle time reduction is
helping Wyeth reduce costs and inventories while enhancing shelf life.
Leveraging Integrated Standard Systems to Change Our World: This is
an era of opportunity, paradigm shift and use proof points that demonstrate
that capturing data and converting to knowledge is the common denominator;
leveraging it is the key.
