India's Trade Practices 'Discriminatory and Unfair,' US Businesses Charge

India should grow its economy but not through unfair trade practices that harm the U.S., a group of U.S. business associations claimed in announcing formation of the Alliance for Fair Trade with India (AFTI). The alliance, headed by the National Association of Manufacturers, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a dozen other industry groups, says the government of India has “systematically discriminated against a wide range of U.S. innovative products and exports in order to benefit India’s business and industrial community at the expense of American jobs.”...More

Expect Muted Global Growth in 2013, World Bank Predicts

Though indicating that economic risks in the United States and other advanced economies have eased and growth is firming, the World Bank expects global GDP to expand only 2.2% in 2013, down from its January 2013 prediction of 2.4% growth. Global GDP grew 2.3% in 2012. The bank said pick-up in developing countries will be modest because of capacity constraints in several middle income countries.
