How Companies Are Helping

Hurricane Donations The list below is a smattering of information about how some companies are pitching in to aid relief efforts in New Orleans. We know there are many more companies who are assisting and we will post information as we learn about it. If you have information you'd like us to post please send to aselko@industryweek.com

  • Anheuser-Busch -- Is supplying 2.5 million cans of drinking water per week to victims. Also has donated $1 million to the Red Cross. Additionally it will match $1 million in funds from its independent distributors.
  • Chevron -- Donated $3 million to Red Cross. Will donate $2 million to charities and relief efforts near Chevron businesses in affected states.
  • ConocoPhillips -- Contributed $3 Million to relief effort.
  • DaimlerChrysler -- Committed $1.5 million to a variety of relief efforts.
  • Dell Inc. -- $5 Million donation from Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. Company expects to donate up to $2 Million from its employees.
  • Eclipse, Inc. -- This Rockford, Illinois based design and manufacturers of industrial process heating equipment and systems has set up a matching program for all of its employees who contribute to Hurricane 2005 relief. The company has both offices and customers located along the Gulf Coast who were affected by the hurricane.
  • Ecolab Inc. -- Distributed Ecolab's waterless antibacterial hand sanitizer, surface sanitizer and other cleaning products to help prevent spread of disease. Also provided a distribution center in Garland, Texas for Red Cross use.
  • Eli Lilly and Co. -- Donated $1 million to Red Cross and will match employee contributions dollar-for-dollar. The company will also donate $1 million in insulin to those in need in the affected areas.
  • Exxon Mobil Corp. -- Committed $7 Million to relief efforts. Employees are volunteering at area shelters.
  • GE Corp. -- Donated $10 Million in equipment and services. Donated over $6 million to the Red Cross. Employees donated $1 Million to the GE Foundation which the foundation matched.
  • GE Consumer and Industrial -- Employees from all business units have been dispatched to help restore power, provide needed equipment, water, security and healthcare throughout Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. GE is also providing medical devices, power generation equipment and water purification systems requested by federal relief authorities.
  • General Motors -- Donated $400,000 to Red Cross and pledged an additional $250, 000 in matching funds for contributions from employees.
  • Honda -- American Honda pledged $5 million to the Red Cross. Also making available portable generators, water pumps and vehicles to agencies working in affected areas.
  • Harley-Davidson Inc. -- $1 million to Red Cross.
  • Johnson & Johnson -- Contributed $5 Million to address immediate and long-tern needs of the families and communities affected by the hurricane. Also donated over $1 Million in disaster relief products.
  • Johnson Controls, Inc. -- $ 1 million to Red Cross.
  • Intel Corp. -- Donated $1 million to Red Cross and will match employee contributions dollar-for-dollar.
  • Omron Corporation (Kyoto, Japan) -- Together with Omron Management Center of America (Schaumburg, IL) pledged $300,000 to Japan Red Cross and the American Red Cross. They also have a matching program with U.S. Omron employees.
  • PepsiCo -- Committed $2 Million, one each to Red Cross and the Salvation Army. The company is donated water in coordination with its bottlers and food through the America’s Second Harvest.
  • Proctor & Gamble Co. -- Has donated $1 Million both in monetary and product donation.
  • Schering-Plough Corp. -- Provided $500,000 cash contribution and $2 million in medicines and other products.
  • Schneider National -- Is working with FEMA to create a critical diesel fuel supply chain for rescue and relief efforts. They are supplying bulk trucks, tankers and drivers to transport fuel from the Port of Louisiana to base camps.
  • Sunoco Inc -- Contributed $1 Million to Red Cross.
  • 3M Co. -- Contributed $1.5 Million to relief efforts. Also has donated $1 Million in products including medical, safety and cleaning products.
  • Toyota -- Toyota companies and dealerships pledged a total of $5 million in relief to the Red Cross and other funds.
  • Valero Energy Corp. -- $1 Million to Red Cross. Employees are holding blood drives and assisting displaced families.
  • Wonderware -- Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys Systems Inc., an automation and information software provider is offering no-charge, functional replacement software licenses as well as proving special assistance to companies that need to rebuild their operations due to the hurricane.


Changes in Events

The following New Orleans scheduled conferences have been altered.
