Description
Mercury Marine, a $1.5 billion manufacturer of recreational marine propulsion engines, is in a competitive industry where product development is critical. The company's strategic vision is to be "the most respected and revered global marine industry leader," which requires product development processes that are flexible and fast enough to support constant innovation. And with manufacturing/supplier facilities in 11 countries and engineering activities in six, these processes must operate seamlessly across multiple sites.
During this webinar you'll hear from Mercury Marine's John Bayless how the company's product lifecycle management (PLM) implementation has helped the company to:
- Reduce the average time for an engineering change from 56 days to 22 days
- Speed up its product development process due to the established guidelines on storing and managing product and project data
- Increase part re-use by engineers and designers by establishing a single source for all the product data
- Share product information in real time across procurement, manufacturing, quality and costing departments
You'll learn about the steps companies should take prior to implementing PLM:
- Understanding the top executives' view of the existing processes, capturing the voice of the customer and establishing metrics for success
- A process-definition step in which existing processes are refined at the user level, evaluated and streamlined
- Aligning the defined processes to the technology
You'll also hear from Jim Brown, president of Tech-Clarity. Jim will discuss the increased complexity of developing today's products, the benefits available from PLM, best practices in implementing PLM, and how you can achieve business value.
