A look at the latest releases

Dassault Systemes unveils Enovia Life Sciences Accelerator for Engineering Design. Developed on Dassault's new V6 platform, the solution manages elements of the device master record with a single, integrated system. The elements include such product data as mechanical and electrical bills of materials, CAD models, configurations and related documentation. It also aggregates information related to products and parts from other business processes and functions within a company's PLM system. www.3ds.com

Infor has released Infor PLM Optiva 5.3, a product lifecycle management solution for process manufacturers and retailers with private label products. A key enhancement of Optiva 5.3 is the advanced formula editor. It allows manufacturers to visually model multiple formulas and versions, assess the ideal iterations and identify associated risks. New formula management capabilities have also been added to the testing module. Additionally, a new label development module is said to increase label accuracy and streamline the creation of product labels. www.infor.com

Invention Machine has launched Goldfire Innovator 4.6. The company's flagship innovation software adds multilingual translation capabilities that tap into Japanese, English, French and German engineering content. Additionally, it returns results in the language a question was asked. That means, for example, if a German user types in a query in his native language and solutions are captured in Japanese documents, then the software would deliver a translated document summary in German. The innovation software also has a new risk analysis platform and research functions that address hazard analysis and critical control points. www.invention-machine.com

New features of the solidThinking 7.6 computer-aided industrial design solution include a fast, deeply integrated rendering engine and intuitive user interface for rendering, as well as an unlimited construction history that allows users to explore any design alternative from an existing design. Among its enhancements, version 7.6 enables more real-time editing with full interactivity. It is available on both Windows and Mac OS X. www.solidthinking.com

Surfcam Velocity 4 from Surfware will launch at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) this month. It offers major improvements to three-axis finishing, such as faster processing and reduced length of rapid motions, as well as precise control over four- and five-axis machining. The release is powered by Surfware's TrueMill toolpath engine, which controls the load on the tool to improve productivity. www.surfware.com

Two versions of PZFlex 2.1 3-D virtual prototyping software have been released by Weidlinger Associates. They are PZFlex Professional and PZFlex Standard for users who develop and improve ultrasonic and piezoelectric devices for biomedical, naval and other industrial applications. The PZFlex standard version is similar to the professional version except that it limits the size of the models to those typically needed by small to midsized companies. Among the software's product features are full 2-D and 3-D solvers, time domain solutions, and thermal and thermal-mechanical solvers. www.pzflex.com
