Dell Inc. recorded record revenue of $15.2 billion and profits jumped 52% in fiscal fourth-quarter 2006. For the year, revenue was $56 billion, a 14% increase over its 2005 revenue of $49.2 billion.
Profit for the year increased 17% to $3.57 billion from $3.04 billion in 2005. Growth was driven by a fourth-quarter increase in sales outside the United States of 43% and an extra week of sales in the quarter.
"Our success in countries such as China and Germany shows the Dell direct business model is preferred by customers in all regions and provides us with a unique advantage and opportunity for continued growth," said Dell CEO Kevin Rollins in the company's Feb. 16 quarterly statement.
Dell's outlook for the start of 2007 isn't as bright. The company expects first-quarter revenue of $14.2 billion to $14.6 billion. That falls below Wall Street's prediction of $14.73 billion, according to the Associated Press.
