Cupertino, Calif.-based Symantec is a provider of content and network security software for both consumers and businesses. Its products are used for functions such as virus protection, intrusion detection and remote management.
With 2005 revenue of $2.6 billion, 20.8% profit margin, 38.1% revenue growth and 22.1% return on equity, it's probably safe to say that its products are well received.
Indeed, results for its 2006 fiscal year, which ended March 31, 2006, were strong. Revenue was $4.14 billion.
"By staying focused on execution, the worldwide Symantec team delivered a solid fiscal fourth quarter," said John W. Thompson, Symantec chairman and CEO. "Performance in all segments and regions was quite strong during the quarter, driven by solid demand for our email archiving, storage, and compliance solutions as well as Norton Internet Security."
