Amphenol connected well with the market in the first quarter of this year. Sales were a record $569 million, up 39% from $409.4 million during the first three months of 2005, including the acquisition of TCS. (Currency translation had the effect of decreasing sales by about $10.1 million in this year's first quarter compared with first-quarter 2005.) "This strong performance was broad based with growth in all major market segments," said Martin H. Loeffler, chairman and CEO of the Wallingford, Conn.-based makers of connectors and interconnect systems.
Indeed, the company in mid-April raised its forecasts for revenues and earnings-per-share. Assuming the economic environment stays about the same and currency exchange rates are "relatively stable," Amphenol is projecting 2006 revenues of between $2.3 billion and $2.345 billion and earnings-per-share of $2.64 to $2.72. Its previous forecast was for revenues of $2.25 billion to $2.3 billion and for earnings-per-share of $2.56 to $2.63.
