June 2007 -- Amphenol Corp. continues its record 2006 performance with a strong first quarter of 2007. First quarter 2007 sales reached $651 million with earnings per share (EPS) of $0.43. Sales grew 14% over last year.
Amphenol chairman and CEO Martin H. Loeffler is optimistic about the rest of 2007.
"Assuming a continuation of the current economic climate and relatively stable currency exchange rates, we are raising our guidance for the full year 2007 to achieve revenues and EPS in the range of $2.6 billion to 2.7 billion and $1.75 to $1.80 respectively, an increase of 8% to 10% and 19% to 22% over 2006 revenues and EPS."
For the year ended Dec. 31, 2006, diluted earnings per share, including flood related charges of 15 cents (the Sidney, N.Y., manufacturing plant) was $2.79 compared with $2.28 per share for the 2005 period.
Sales for the year ending Dec. 31, 2006, increased 37% (14% excluding the TCS acquisition) to $2.4 billion compared with $1.8 billion for the 2005 period. (Currency translation had the effect of increasing sales by approximately $16.5 million for the 2006 period when compared with the 2005 period.)
Adds Loeffler: "For the second quarter 2007, we expect revenues in the range of $670 million to 685 million and EPS in the range of 43 cents and 45 cents."
