June 2008 -- Thor Industries Inc.'s reported sales, net income and earnings per share in 2007 were the second-highest in the company's history. Thor reported starting the new fiscal year with record cash and short-term investments of $346.5 million, up from $264.4 million. Thor reported that the year was characterized by softness in motor homes and little strength in travel trailers and fifth wheels.

In contrast, the midsize bus industry was up 22% in unit shipments through June 2007, following an 11% increase in 2006. The company claims to sell 28% of the units sold in the recreation vehicle industry and nearly 40% of units sold in the small and midsize bus industry. For fiscal year 2007, Thor reported sales of $2.86 billion, second only to record sales of $3.07 billion in fiscal 2006. Net income was $137.4 million, Thor's second best, compared with $163.4 million the prior year. Earnings per share were $2.42 versus $2.89 in fiscal 2006.
