June 2008 -- Profit rose 21% in 2007 for Kinetic Concepts Inc., which produces such therapeutic and wound-
care products as compression therapy devices, bariatric support and hospital bedding. The
company posted net earnings of $237.1 million compared with $195.5 million in 2006. Net earnings
per diluted share for the full year of 2007 were $3.31, an increase of 23% from last year.
Driven by increased rental and sales volumes for advanced wound healing devices and therapeutic
surfaces, domestic revenue increased 16% in 2007 to $1.15 billion. International revenue totaled
$459.7 million an increase of 22%, compared with the prior year due primarily to higher vacuum
assisted closure (V.A.C.) unit volumes and favorable foreign currency exchange rate movements.
During the third quarter, the company secured a new $500 million revolving credit facility due
July 2012. "For 2007, we strengthened our business fundamentals, resulting in solid financial
performance," says Catherine Burzik, President and Chief Executive Officer of KCI.
