Toyota Talent Questions and Answers With David Meier
By David Meier, co-author of the best-selling business books, Toyota Talent and The Toyota Way Fieldbook
I want to thank everyone for listening to this webcast, and for asking so many questions. I have attempted to answer the questions, but many of the questions are quite involved. Many of the questions have been thoroughly explained in the "Toyota Way" series of books, and I don’t want to sound like a book salesman, but I also don’t want to do non-value-added explanations for lengthy subjects that have already been explained in detail.
Keep in mind that the Toyota Way is like a giant puzzle and if you only look at a single piece out of context, you will only see part of the picture. I can say that people development is a multi-faceted issue, and some of the questions only ask about one facet. If I explain only the one facet out of context it will only provide a one-sided view, and this is one of the difficulties with lean implementation. At Toyota we learned to look at things from many views and to consider all relationships. The same is true for many of these questions.
