Job Instruction as a Factor in Toyota's Success
Bonus Q&A from IndustryWeek's Highlights from Toyota Talent webcast, featuring David Meier

Question from Helen:
How much does Job Instruction contribute to Toyota's bottom line?

Answer from David Meier:
Helen -- One challenge is that "All things which can be measured are not necessarily meaningful, and all things that are meaningful can not be measured." It is very difficult to make a direct connection between Job Instruction and the bottom line because Job Instruction is only one of the activities that should be pursued to improve operations. For Toyota I would say that this is one of the key pieces that leads to their success.
