Manufacturing gross output decreased by only 3% over the same period. Taken together, these data indicate a significant decline in the amount of energy used per unit of gross manufacturing output. The significant decline in energy intensity reflects both improvements in energy efficiency and changes in the manufacturing output mix. Consumption of every fuel used for manufacturing declined over this period.</p> <div class="og_rss_groups"></div><p><a href="http://www.industryweek.com/energy-management/us-manufacturing-growing-more-energy-efficient" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.industryweek.com/energy-management/us-manufacturing-growing-more-energy-efficient#comments Energy Management Environment News Tue, 19 Mar 2013 20:31:00 +0000 60351 at http://www.industryweek.com ExxonMobil, Statoil Announce Tanzania Gas Find http://www.industryweek.com/energy-management/exxonmobil-statoil-announce-tanzania-gas-find <div class="field-deck"> This is the third major discovery in a year by the two companies in the country. </div> <div class="field-image-promo"> <a href="/energy-management/exxonmobil-statoil-announce-tanzania-gas-find" class="imagecache imagecache-med_crop imagecache-linked imagecache-med_crop_linked"><img alt="ExxonMobil, Statoil Announce Tanzania Gas Find " src="http://www.industryweek.com/site-files/industryweek.com/files/imagecache/med_crop/uploads/2013/03/natural-gas-promo.gif" title="" height="200" width="355" class="imagecache imagecache-med_crop" /></a> </div> <div></div>This is the third major discovery in a year by the two companies in the country. <div class="og_rss_groups"></div><p><a href="http://www.industryweek.com/energy-management/exxonmobil-statoil-announce-tanzania-gas-find" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.industryweek.com/energy-management/exxonmobil-statoil-announce-tanzania-gas-find#comments Energy Management News Mon, 18 Mar 2013 13:05:00 +0000 60081 at http://www.industryweek.com Obama Renews Call to Develop Technologies that Reduce Fossil-Fuel Dependency http://www.industryweek.com/energy/obama-renews-call-develop-technologies-reduce-fossil-fuel-dependency <div class="field-deck"> The president is proposing to take some of the oil and gas revenues from public lands and put it toward research on energy-efficient engines, developing cheaper batteries and advancing biofuels and natural gas. </div> <div class="field-image-promo"> <a href="/energy/obama-renews-call-develop-technologies-reduce-fossil-fuel-dependency" class="imagecache imagecache-med_crop imagecache-linked imagecache-med_crop_linked"><img alt="Obama at Argonne " src="http://www.industryweek.com/site-files/industryweek.com/files/imagecache/med_crop/uploads/2013/03/obama-argonne.jpg" title="" height="200" width="355" class="imagecache imagecache-med_crop" /></a> </div> <div></div>The president is proposing to take some of the oil and gas revenues from public lands and put it toward research on energy-efficient engines, developing cheaper batteries and advancing biofuels and natural gas. <div class="og_rss_groups"></div><p><a href="http://www.industryweek.com/energy/obama-renews-call-develop-technologies-reduce-fossil-fuel-dependency" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.industryweek.com/energy/obama-renews-call-develop-technologies-reduce-fossil-fuel-dependency#comments Energy Management Product Development Energy Research & Development Public Policy News Sat, 16 Mar 2013 18:59:00 +0000 60051 at http://www.industryweek.com Rusal Suspends Operations at Disputed Nigerian Plant http://www.industryweek.com/energy-management/rusal-suspends-operations-disputed-nigerian-plant <div class="field-deck"> The company said it was halting operations at the Alscon smelter because the Nigerian government never followed through on a promise to provide it with sustainable gas supplies. </div> <div class="field-image-promo"> <a href="/energy-management/rusal-suspends-operations-disputed-nigerian-plant" class="imagecache imagecache-med_crop imagecache-linked imagecache-med_crop_linked"><img alt="Rusal Suspends Operations at Disputed Nigerian Plant " src="http://www.industryweek.com/site-files/industryweek.com/files/imagecache/med_crop/uploads/2013/03/smelter-promo.gif" title="" height="200" width="355" class="imagecache imagecache-med_crop" /></a> </div> <div></div>The Rusal aluminum company of Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska on Friday halted production at a disputed Nigerian plant whose ownership was awarded to a U.S. company last year. <div class="og_rss_groups"></div><p><a href="http://www.industryweek.com/energy-management/rusal-suspends-operations-disputed-nigerian-plant" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.industryweek.com/energy-management/rusal-suspends-operations-disputed-nigerian-plant#comments Energy Management News Fri, 15 Mar 2013 13:02:00 +0000 59951 at http://www.industryweek.com
