Course description

  • Why is it so easy for improved processes to go back to where they started before the improvement efforts?

  • Even if everybody follows the improvement recommendations, why does a process still produce defects?

  • Why is it so hard to maintain benefits in the processes after the improvement projects are done?

If you ask these types of questions, you need poka yoke, also known as mistake proofing.  Whether they prevent errors or detect defects, mistake proofing devices change the way any process is executed – to make the process easier, better and safer.

Processes that are made mistake proof do one of two things: they prevent the occurrence of errors, or they detect errors when they happen.  Mistake proofing devices are simple process or product design changes that make defect prevention infallible and effortless.  When combined with Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies, mistake proofing becomes a vital element that helps you solve more complicated issues.

This online training session will be useful to those who are new to mistake proofing, as well as those who have attended other mistake proofing classes before.  You'll learn how to create mistake proofing devices using innovation tools.  From opportunity identification to solution development and evaluation, this training will take you through a stimulating, easy-to-follow four step mistake proofing process.

Key learning points:

  • Your trainers will show you how to convert your team into a solid group of mistake proofing developers.

  • Guided by innovation techniques, you'll learn how to ensure your team members are not only thinking about traditional and classical mistake proofing solutions, but are also open to unconventional new opportunities.

  • You'll learn and understand the 21 principles for mistake proofing solutions.

  • You'll find out how to identify opportunities to implement mistake proofing solutions.

  • Discover the 4 step process to develop your own mistake proofing devices.

This session will include many real-world examples of mistake proofing devices, plus shared experiences from your trainers.
