Manufacturers interested in or involved with the security of their international cargo may want to attend the International Cargo Security Summit, being held in Chicago July 16-17. The event will focus on counterterrorism strategies for the freight transportation and logistics supply chain, including new initiatives by the U.S. government, such as the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism. Speakers include Ronald Cochran, laboratory executive officer and legislative analyst, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; Jouko Lemplienen, director of compliance and facilitation for the World Customers Organization; Hubert Wiesenmaier, executive director of the American Import Shippers Association, and others. Topics to be addressed include cyber-terror analysis, international and U.S. regulations, container security, maritime and port security, and hazardous materials transportation, and air cargo security.
