Dell Inc. announced Nov. 9 it will increase its U.S. manufacturing presence with the addition of a new plant in North Carolina. The specific site has yet to be determined. Round Rock, Texas-based Dell said the new plant, scheduled to open in the fall of 2005, initially will employ about 700 workers, scaling up to a workforce of 1,500 within five years. The North Carolina facility will produce desktop computers for Dell's U.S. East Coast business and consumer customers.
