Compiled ByJill Jusko Nestle foods and beverages in Argentina will be traveling with Ryder System Inc. The Miami-based provider of transportation services worldwide has been awarded a distribution and transportation management contract with Nestle Argentina SA. Under the multiyear contract Ryder will manage a 160,000 square-foot multi-customer distribution center with an inventory of 8,500 pallets of finished goods. The company also will manage outbound transportation of 20 to 50 vehicle loads per day to more than 320 Nestle customer locations. "We needed a logistics provider with international presence and experience in this type of business," says Lukas Paravicini, vice president and finance director for Nestle Argentina. "[Ryder has] developed an innovative, end-to-end supply-chain solutions program specifically designed to improve and standardize our transportation and warehouse distribution management system."
