The 16th annual National Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Assn. (VPPPA) conference will be held Aug. 28 to 31 at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle. More than 1,500 safety, health, and environmental leaders from the public and private sectors are expected to attend. More than 100 workshops with topics ranging from ergonomics to OSHA compliance will be offered. One of the keynote speakers will be Bob Bigony, senior vice president, Motorola Inc. Bigony will share how Motorola has achieved Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) recognition and the role the program plays within the corporate safety and health culture. Motorola currently has eight facilities and more than 35,000 employees involved in VPP. VPP is administered by OSHA and the U.S. Dept. of Energy.
