The Conference Board's index of leading economic indicators is suggesting that "moderate to strong" economic growth will continue for several months.

The leading index increased six-tenths of a percentage point in May, the most recent month for which data are available, a result of job generation and strong demand for capital equipment. The leading indicator for Spain now stands at 144.4 (1990=100).

In the first quarter of 2006, Spain's economy grew at a 3.3% annual rate.

The Conference Board is a New York-based business research group.
