Switzerland's economy is forecast to grow by 2% this year, slightly higher than previously expected, authorities said on March 30. The Swiss Economics Ministry said it had revised its earlier prediction of 1.8% growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) because of a "consolidated" economic climate.

"Growth should also continue in 2007, although the rhythm is likely to slow down somewhat because of a less favorable international and monetary climate," the ministry said.

Switzerland's GDP growth in 2007 is likely to reach 1.5%, the ministry said, sticking to its previous forecast for next year.
