Eyewear for Medical Providers That Fitz a Need

April 7, 2020
Company known for custom-fitted 3D printed eyewear has shifted production to meet immediate need for medical professionals during ongoing pandemic.

Fitz Frames, makers of kids glasses, has shifted their manufacturing to focus on making protective eyewear for medical personnel.

The 3D printed glasses are manufactured in the U.S. and offered in both prescription and non-prescription options. Much like their kid glasses, the new offering leverages the company's app with technology to measures over 1,000 points on each face for a perfect fit and all-day comfort.

Known as Fitz Protect, the design of this new line of protective eyewear specifically meets the needs of frontline medical personnel. It provides an enhanced line of defense against COVID-19 infection. Available in Rx and non-Rx, this custom-fitted 3D printed eyewear hugs the contours of the wearer’s face and provides enhanced droplet protection in a clinical setting.

Following guidance from the American Academy of Ophthalmologists that doctors refrain from using contact lenses, the design is the result of a fast iterative process in direct consultation with medical personnel. Fitz Protect can be worn in conjunction with other personal protective equipment and is designed to be comfortable enough to wear throughout a long shift. It can be easily decontaminated using standard sterilization procedures already in use.

The goal is to get this eyewear into the hands of medical professionals as quickly as possible at no cost to them. Fitz is accepting tax-deductible donations through its partner The Loving Eyes Foundation. The Fitz app makes it easy, simple, and fast for healthcare professionals to get their made-to-measure pair of Fitz Protect glasses. They can order in under four minutes from the app and the glasses will be delivered directly to their door. F
