'Steel Workers of the Future' -- Addressing the Technical Skills Gap

May 7, 2014
ArcelorMittal is working with young people and colleges to prepare their workforce of the future.

The world's largest steel company is going to great lengths to recruit and educate young people to provide the skills they need for productive, lucrative careers with their company.

Project Leader Gary Norgren says their 5-year projections show a major shortage of technically-qualified workers unless there's a major intervention of some sort.

In this video interview conducted at the IW Best Plants conference, he talks about why this is a better solution for many students. Norgren says many of them needlessly go into debt by going to a four year college, only to have difficulty securing employment upon graduation.
