The November Challenger Report from outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas showed that U.S.-based companies announced 71,321 job cuts last month, down 53% from the 153,074 cuts announced in October. Despite this month-over-month decrease, the November total remains well above the November 2024 level.
In addition, job cuts throughout the first 11 months of 2025 reached a total of 1,170,821, up 54% compared to the same 11-month period a year earlier. This is just the sixth time since 1993 that year-to-date job cuts have surpassed 1.1 million.
