The August 2025 Employment Situation Report released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported an unemployment rate of 4.3%, the highest rate since October 2021. Manufacturing employment declined by 12,000 last month and has dropped by 78,000 over the year, according to the report.
The UAW has filed unfair labor practice charges against GE Aerospace for failure to bargain in good faith amidst the ongoing strike across two facilities in Evendale, Ohio, and Erlanger, Kentucky. The ULP alleges “the Company has published false statements about what has occurred during negotiations and has made bargaining proposals that contain errors, misrepresent the bargaining history and which contain multiple internal inconsistencies.”
