The American Plastics Council (APC) plans to open an automotive center in Troy, Michigan, by June 1. It will provide automotive OEMs, suppliers, and system integrators with a place for information on developing plastic applications and concepts. The information and learning center will serve OEM engineers and designers and will highlight the findings of APC technical research.

The physical layout of the building is designed to accommodate a variety of set-ups and permit vehicles to move in and out easily. APC plans include allowing seminars, video conferencing, virtual imaging design, and special events to take place within the facility.

The Society of Plastics Engineers will offer on-site continuing education courses to train engineering students in plastic design concepts. Reports, publications, and videos pertaining to automotive plastics will also be offered.
