Compiled ByDeborah Austin A new strategic alliance is bringing MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) services to Aerospan.com, an e-marketplace for the air transport industry. The alliance -- with supply-chain management/logistics-services provider b2b-aero.com -- will give Aerospan.com customers day-to-day visibility of components under repair, with online tracking of MRO orders. This service is scheduled for launch before the end of second-quarter 2001. Aerospan intends to bring a full MRO portfolio to the marketplace -- and this alliance provides one of three major segments of its planned MRO product suite framework -- says Aerospan CEO Duncan Alexander. Aerospan, headquartered in Wood Dale, Ill., is a neutral e-marketplace for the global aviation industry. b2b-aero.com, based in Hamburg, Germany, is a B2B platform connecting original equipment manufacturers, airlines, and aviation repair facilities.
