Compiled ByDeborah Austin Optimum Logistics and Aspen Technology Inc. have announced a joint marketing and technology alliance to develop Web-based supply-chain logistics solutions for process industries manufacturers. Aspen's supply-chain optimization solutions will be integrated with Optimum's e-logistics technology. This will enable process manufacturers to make purchasing, manufacturing, sales, and transportation decisions based on real-time information about their logistics networks. Aspen, headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., is a supplier of software and solutions for process manufacturers. Optimum, a one-year-old Internet-based open logistics system for commodity goods, is headquartered in Stamford, Conn. Optimum's TransLink solution currently is used by 10 chemical companies. Also, Aspen has acquired a minority equity interest in Optimum from parent company Stolt-Nielsen SA, a transportation services firm headquartered in London.
