To remain competitive, many companies have decided to outsource their IT functions overseas in order to take advantage of cheap labor. However, many companies aren't thinking the whole off-shoring process through, according to MBS Outsourcing, a Fort Collins, Colo.-based firm. "A successful off-shoring program requires choosing the IT projects that best suit an off-shore environment, and then the experience to manage the entire process," says Richard Noe, senior vice president of MBS Outsourcing. To aid companies in outsourcing IT functions, MBS offers customers its MBS Right-Shore methodology:

  • Strategy Consulting -- Involves the creation of a strategic plan for outsourcing initiatives. The plan includes a strategy for knowledge acquisition and transformation, the appropriate delivery model (on-site, off-site, near-shore and off-shore), cost-savings expectations, as well as a performance scorecard to assure the success of the initiative.
  • Outsourcing Services - Provides application development, application portfolio management, business process outsourcing, data center management, test lab services, and call center services.
