The 15th Annual National Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Assn. (VPPPA) Conference will be held on Sept. 14 in Washington. Its theme will be "Building Monuments of Excellence." The event will offer more than 70 workshops, with topics ranging from ergonomics to OSHA compliance. Scheduled speakers include OSHA Assistant Secretary Charles Jeffress and Georgia-Pacific CEO A.D. "Pete" Correll. Jeffress will give his vision of the future of workplace safety and health and share how public-private partnerships are becoming a focus in today's government. He will also join an interactive roundtable session titled "Millennium OSHA: The All-Star Debate," which will focus on OSHA's direction in the next century. Correll will discuss his company's safety performance. Georgia-Pacific has 16 facilities involved with the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), three more plants with applications pending, and 16 preparing VPP applications.
