Coors Turns To EDS For Global IT Support

Compiled ByTraci Purdum EDS Corp. has entered into a five-year agreement with Coors Brewing Co. The Plano, Tex.-based global services company will build and operate an on-demand IT infrastructure for Golden, Colo.-based Coors. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. Under terms of the agreement, EDS will deliver IT services to Coors anywhere in the world form EDS' existing infrastructure. Coors will use - and pay for - only the services it needs at a particular point in time without the significant upfront capital investment. EDS will provide strategic infrastructure, desktop support, and network management services and will host Coors' SAP enterprise application at EDS data centers on equipment from Palo Alto, Calif.-based Sun Microsystems Inc. as well as other providers. The contract marks the first client contract combining EDS services and Sun hardware since the two companies announced their Continuum of Services program in mid-July.
