Flexible workforces, which increase competitiveness, are gaining popularity -- and not just in the U.S. For example, John Fedor, president and CEO, Masco Machine Inc., Cleveland, reports auto companies in Poland are hiring and training young production workers, and engineers and "moving them around to do the complete task of assembling an automobile." The story is similar in automotive plants in Brazil, he says.
