Delphi Seeks Full ISO 14001; 15 Of 168 Plants Certified So Far

Delphi Automotive Systems, Troy, Mich., has announced that 15 of its 168 manufacturing facilities have been ISO 14001 certified. Thirteen of the 15 sites are in Europe. Its goal is to certify all of its 168 facilities over the next three years. The ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems standard recognizes facilities that have systems in place to proactively manage and reduce their environmental impacts. "We want to formally integrate our environmental management into the goals of the business, and ISO 14001 is a great way to do that," says Marty Cristo, manager, Delphi environmental management systems. "The program gives us a mechanism to design solutions to environmental issues upfront and prevent pollution before it becomes a problem later. ISO 14001 is an important step in this process." Delphi is an automotive component and systems technology company.
